Welcome from the AAP Trainee Committee Chair
On behalf of the Association for Academic Psychiatry (AAP) and the AAP Trainee Committee, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the AAP Trainee Webpage.
The AAP Trainee Committee was created to support trainees and “trainees-at-heart” on their path to a rich and rewarding career in academic psychiatry. Our mission is to provide individuals at all levels – be they medical students interested in psychiatry, psychiatric residents, applying for their first job, or established psychiatrists considering a career in academia – with the resources and mentorship needed to fulfill their personal and professional goals.
I first joined AAP in 2012 as a psychiatry resident and have since continued to be an active and engaged member. The mentorship and relationships I formed with my AAP colleagues have been instrumental in advancing my academic career. Throughout the years, I have collaborated on cross-institutional projects with my AAP colleagues that have resulted in posters, workshops, and publications held several leadership positions within the organization and received valuable advice on career decisions and transitions. As the current Chair of the Trainee Committee, I am committed to helping you achieve similar career success and satisfaction. I look forward to meeting you at future annual meetings!
